The Atlanta Wind Symphony (AWS) is holding open auditions for all instruments for the 2025-2026 concert season. Auditions are accepted and encouraged for all wind instruments and percussion.
Auditions will consist of two rounds:
Round 1 of auditions will be virtual, consisting of a video recording of audition requirements. Audition video recordings may be submitted via YouTube from May 1st through July 1st. Finalists will be notified by mid-July 2024.
Round 2 will be for finalists, who will then participate in a live audition in mid-August. This audition may include requirements from Round 1, excerpts, plus sight reading. Finalist audition results will be shared late August 2024.
Round 1 virtual audition requirements for wind instruments:
- Major scales - selected for each instrument, played without music, medium speed, up and down scale. Arpeggios following the scale are accepted, but not required.
- Chromatic scale - full range of instrument, played without music, medium speed, up and down scale.
- Two musical selections of 1-2 minutes in length each (such as etudes or movements from the standard solo repertoire), one showcasing lyrical ability, and one showcasing technical ability. No accompaniment.
- Also included in the audition materials:
- A brief bio with your musical background, so we know a bit about your eduction and playing history.
- PDFs of the musical selections being played.

Atlanta Wind Symphony (AWS) is a volunteer community wind symphony. We have a minimum age requirement of 18 years old. AWS rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:30 pm in the Chattahoochee High School Band Room in Johns Creek, Georgia. Our concert season for 2025-2026 is from September through the end of June, during which we perform 5-6 concerts per year.
